Bay Fishing In Destin Florida

Destin Florida's Choctawhatchee Bay is located in the world's "Luckiest Fishing Village". Destin is not only known for great fishing but also the beautiful emerald green waters. Fishing in the Choctawhatchee Bay and Santa Rosa Sound is a good option for families with young children as well as experienced anglers. Destin Bay Fishing Trips will target mainly Speckled Sea Trout, Redfish and Spanish Mackerel.

At the beginning of each year through Spring Break in Destin Florida we fish for Redfish, Sheephead, Pompano and Spanish Mackerel. During this time, the bait we use is mainly a combination of shrimp, sand fleas, and bright lures.

From around Easter through Labor Day is a great time to catch Trout, Redfish, and Spanish Mackerel using a variety of bait fish from Menhadens, Pilchards to Golden Croakers. The best setup for this time of year would be Carolina Rigs or Fly Line your baits using a Fluorocarbon Leaders as these leaders are more abrasive over fishing line alone.

As we come up on Labor Day the Big Bull Redfish have more than likely shown up pretty good as well as some real nice Spanish Mackerels . The best time to fish for the Redfish is going to be on the outgoing tide so keep that in mind when booking your trip.

Winter in Destin is usually very mild weather. Fishing can be good inshore for Flounder and Redfish. Finger Mullet and Bull Minnows are preferable bait for this time of year.
